June Maintenance Tips

With summer quickly approaching, it’s important to keep your home in good condition by following these quick maintenance tips!

Seal Drafty Doors & Windows

Be sure to check all of your doors and windows for cracks around the frames, and then caulk or seal if necessary. Applying weatherstripping can also be a great way to keep the cool air in and hot air out, while also saving money on your energy bills!

Irrigation & Watering

Monitor the irrigation of your outdoor plants and adjust the amount of water each receives as needed. Also, watering plants at dawn or dusk helps reduce water loss from evaporation!

Inspect Your Fire Extinguishers

Make sure that your fire extinguisher is easily accessible and is not covered by other objects. You’ll also want to check the pressure on your gauge and ensure that there are no visible signs of wear and tear.

Check On Your HVAC Filters

In general, we suggest changing your HVAC filters monthly, however, this may not always be necessary. Typically, homes with no animals or allergies will be okay with changing their filters every 2-3 months. You should check all filters each month, change them if dirty, and if not, inspect them again next month.

Swap Out Batteries in Smoke & Carbon Dioxide Detectors

To stay safe, it is important to replace batteries in both smoke and carbon dioxide detectors every six months. Replacing them each January and June will make it easier to remember this essential task.

As always, feel free to contact us with any questions or to schedule a home inspection!
